What to Expect
What to Expect as a New Patient
Visiting a new chiropractor can sometimes feel overwhelming, whether or not you’ve had chiropractic care before. Our goal is to make your experience as comfortable and reassuring as possible.
Many of our prospective patients have already downloaded and completed the necessary forms from our website. If you haven’t, don’t worry—we have them available in our office for you to fill out. If you have any questions, our team is happy to assist you. These forms are an essential part of your care, helping us understand your health history and specific needs.
During your visit, the doctor will review your health history with you to identify potential causes of your condition and determine whether chiropractic care is the right course of action. Following this discussion, a thorough examination will be conducted, which typically takes about an hour. Please plan your schedule accordingly. If further diagnostic tests, such as lab work or imaging, are needed, we will inform you and assist in coordinating those services.
If the doctor determines that additional or alternative treatment is necessary, we will discuss those options with you. Depending on your condition, the doctor may begin treatment during your first visit or schedule a follow-up appointment to review your results and develop an appropriate treatment plan. Our priority is to provide you with the best possible care tailored to your needs.
During your follow-up visit, also known as your "Report of Findings" visit, we highly recommend bringing your spouse, significant other, or a trusted family member. This is important for two key reasons. First, we will be discussing a substantial amount of information regarding your current health status, the necessary procedures, and our recommendations to help you achieve optimal health. Having someone with you can help absorb and retain this information more effectively.
Second, based on our years of experience treating patients, we have found that spouses or significant others often provide valuable insights that the patient may have forgotten or chosen not to disclose due to embarrassment or other personal reasons. To ensure the highest quality of care, it is crucial that we have all relevant details about your health—no piece of information is too insignificant. We ask that you trust us to determine what is pertinent to your treatment. The more open and honest you are, the better we can tailor our approach to help you.
During this visit, the doctor will present personalized recommendations based on your health history and examination findings. This process typically takes about 45 minutes, so please plan your schedule accordingly. You will receive a comprehensive explanation of the underlying cause of your condition, any complicating factors, and a treatment protocol designed to address them. We will also discuss the potential risks and complications of leaving your condition untreated, as well as the benefits and risks of the recommended treatment. Additionally, alternative treatment options, their effectiveness, and any associated risks will also be reviewed. You will also be provided with guidance on how to enhance your treatment for a faster and more effective recovery.
At any point during this visit or throughout your treatment, you are encouraged to ask the doctor any questions or express any concerns you may have. Before beginning treatment, you will be asked to read an informed consent form. Any questions about the form or your care will be addressed, ensuring you fully understand and agree with the proposed treatment plan. Once you sign the form, your treatment will begin.
